We might get confused between cations and anions. How do we remember that cations are positive?

An easy way is to remember

Spell: CA + ION

The 't' in the middle of 'cation' can be imagined as a representation of the '+' sign.

Another method is just to remember that Anions are negative, which is easier because they contain the letter 'n' ( imagined for 'negative'). There is no need to find a memory hack for cations again as it will be the opposite of 'Anions'.
